This Brazilian coffee comes from Eduardo Ferreira de Sousa in Mantiqueira de Minas. Here, coffee does not grow in endless monoculture, but among trees and shrubs in his Tropicália agroforestry system.

Coffee that grows among the trees

At Fazenda Pedra Preta, Eduardo developed Tropicália, a regenerative agroforestry system. Coffee does not grow here in a bare field of one crop, but among perennial trees and other vegetation.

Those trees provide shade and form part of the system around the coffee.

Fazenda Pedra Preta is part of the Capistrano-Ferreira family, where coffee knowledge has been passed down for five generations. Eduardo Ferreira de Sousa builds on that knowledge in his own way: his research into agroforestry became the starting point for Tropicália.
